About Β· the booth
The cards never lie.
βSit down, summoner. Twenty turns. Twenty cards. I read minds for a living.β
pickacard.lol is a daily AI guessing game for League of Legends, hosted by Twisted Fate, the Bilgewater cartomancer. Pick any champion in your head β TF reads the cards and guesses it in under twenty questions. Or flip the deck and guess yourself: classic attribute spreads, splash reveals, and kit readings.
What separates this from other LoL guessers is the cultural layer. TF doesn't just ask which lane your champion plays. He asks if they make people uninstall the game. If they're a smurf staple. If they've ever been picked in a Worlds final. The kind of questions that only land if you actually play.
The four spreads
- 01 Β· Stacked Deck. You think of a champion. TF asks Yes / Maybe / No questions and converges on your pick.
- 02 Β· Classic. Type a champion name. Each guess reveals seven attribute cards β green for exact, yellow for close, red for wrong.
- 03 Β· Splash. A heavily zoomed splash. The camera pulls back with each wrong guess. Six chances before the deck stays shut.
- 04 Β· Ability. An ability turns face-up. Wrong guess, next ability flips. Read the kit by its flavor β names redacted.
FAQ
- Why Twisted Fate?
- TF is canon β he's the Bilgewater cartomancer. His ability literally reads "Pick a Card." The blue / yellow / red shuffle maps perfectly to Yes / Maybe / No. The carnival booth, the riverboat noir, the Cutpurse and Underworld skins β the brand was already there, waiting.
- How does TF guess so fast in Stacked Deck?
- Bayesian inference. Every champion starts with equal probability. After each answer, TF re-weights the deck using a likelihood model that tolerates fuzzy thinking (your "Yes" is treated as 92% confident, not 100%). The next question is whichever one would split the remaining candidates most evenly. With honest answers TF averages 8β9 questions across all 170+ champions.
- Why are the cultural tags wrong for some champions?
- The first pass was LLM-assisted, not exhaustive. Tags like "toxic main" or "iconic voice line" are subjective and meta-dependent. If TF whiffs on a champion you'd expect to be obvious, that's probably tagging, not algorithm. Tell us β we'll fix it.
- Is the meta tier kept up to date?
- Not yet. The meta-tier and pro/solo-queue priority fields ship as "unknown" for now and only get used when manually set per patch. Eventually we'll automate this from public win-rate APIs.
- Will there be more modes?
- Yes. Quote ("Hasagi" β Yasuo), Emoji (ππ΄ β Aurelion Sol), and Bilgewater Maps (a GeoGuessr-style mode for Summoner's Rift) are all on the roadmap. The order depends on what people end up actually playing.
- Is this affiliated with Riot Games?
- No. pickacard.lol is a fan project. Champion data comes from Riot's public DDragon API, which is permitted for fan use. We don't sell anything Riot owns β see the disclaimer below.
- How can I report a bug or suggest a question?
- For now, email hello@pickacard.lol. A proper feedback form is coming with the V2 update.
